Traffic controllers
A traffic controller directs traffic where signs and markings alone are not enough. All our traffic controllers have completed at least level III competence training.

A qualified traffic controller on site
Every traffic controller has completed at least level III competence training, which the law requires for directing traffic at roadworks and events.
Our traffic controllers use compliant equipment and know the traffic legislation and safety requirements.
If needed, we add the traffic management plan, signs and all other traffic management to the traffic controllers.
When is a traffic controller needed?
When traffic cannot be managed safely with signs and markings alone. For example:
A traffic controller’s signal is binding on road users even when it differs from a traffic sign. This lets the controller respond to the situation most flexibly.
What to tell us when you order a traffic controller
The number of traffic controllers depends on the site. With alternating one-way traffic, you often need a controller at each end of the work area. At a junction or during an event, you may need more. In your enquiry, give the location, dates and times, the type of work, and whether traffic must be stopped briefly or continuously. Based on this, we will tell you how many controllers you need and whether you also need signs or traffic lights.
Traffic controller or temporary traffic lights?
For a short time and at a difficult location, a traffic controller is more flexible, because they can see the situation and react immediately. If traffic must be reduced to one lane for several days or around the clock, temporary traffic lights are often more practical. Sometimes both are used: the lights work under normal conditions, and a controller helps at peak times or when machinery is moving. We can help you choose what suits your site.

Frequently asked questions
Does a traffic controller need training?
Yes. To control traffic at roadworks and events, you must complete competence training. All our traffic controllers have completed at least level III competence training. On site, they use compliant equipment, including high-visibility clothing. Our controllers also know the traffic legislation and safety requirements, and how to act in an unexpected situation.
Can I hire traffic controllers for an event?
Yes. Traffic controllers direct traffic at sports competitions, concerts, fairs and other public events where a road is closed or traffic is diverted. If needed, we also prepare the event traffic management plan, get it approved and install the signs and fences.
Do I need a traffic management plan for traffic control?
On a public road, changing traffic arrangements generally requires a plan approved by the road owner, even when a traffic controller directs traffic. The plan shows where the controllers stand and which signs are needed. If you do not have a plan yet, we will prepare it and get it approved.
Do traffic controllers work at night and at weekends?
Roadworks and events often take place outside normal working hours, so we agree the controllers' hours based on the site. For planned work, tell us the dates as early as possible. Outside office hours, call +372 507 1780.
How quickly can a traffic controller get to the site?
It depends on the site and how many controllers are needed. For planned work, it is best to agree the time early. For emergency work, call us and we will see what we can do. We reply to written enquiries within 24 hours.
